Lacazette ankle injury fears over as striker takes part in full Arsenal training ahead of Newcastle opener

ARSENAL fans will be breathing a huge sigh of relief as star striker Alexandre Lacazette took part in another training session today.

There were fears that the Frenchman would miss the start of the season after injuring his foot in the friendly with Lyon.

He received treatment after just a minute of play – and was then subbed off with only 12 minutes on the clock.

After that game, that the Gunners lost 2-1, he was pictured in a protective boot and then went for scans on his ankle.

But he took part in the indoor and outdoor sessions at the club’s London Colney base and it is believed he should be fit for the opener against Newcastle.

He spent time with fitness coach Barry Solan, along with new signing from Real Madrid Dani Ceballos.

Lacazette also joined the rest of the squad for a workout on Monday – but missed the friendly against Angers on Wednesday.

It is not yet known if Lacazette will be involved in Sunday’s final pre-season game against Barcelona in the Nou Camp.

But manager Unai Emery is confident that his £52million striker will be available for the Newcastle clash despite him managing only 12 minutes of Sunday’s game against Lyon.

“We are thinking it’s not serious,” Emery said after that game. “He tried to continue but he decided with the doctor and with me that as it was a pre-season game it was better to take no more risks.”
