Arsenal legend wants new signing to be in the starting lineup

Arsenal has a horror start of the match after getting two goals down in the first 20 minutes of the game but the goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi make sure that Arsenal went in half-time with scores again on the level term.

Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira during the Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium, London.

According to Arsenal legend Lee Dixion, Arsenal new signing Lucas Torreira is a “massive difference” in the Arsenal display after coming from the bench in their 3-2 loss against Chelsea. Arsenal should include Lucas in their starting lineup after his fabulous display after coming as a substitute for misfiring Xhaka after half-time.

Arsenal signed Torreira from Sampdoria in the summer transfer window but yet to start in the Premier League. The display against Chelsea and misfiring Xhaka could make way for him to be in the playing eleven in the coming matches.

Arsenal Legend Dixion said when speaking to NBC, “Torreira was a massive difference as soon as he came on. He needs to play.”

Pedro opened the scoring for Chelsea before Morata scored firing past Cech for his goal after a long barren run in front of goals but Arsenal equaled before half-time. Chelsea takes home 3 points after the late goal from Alonso by scoring from Hazard cross in the stoppage time. Unai Emery is still to pick points for Arsenal after succeding Wenger this season.

After the match, Emery revealed his decision to substitute Xhaka in half-time. He said, “This is a tactical decision because he also had a yellow card. We didn’t want to take the risk with the yellow card and we wanted to give a chance to other players we have in the middle.”

Emery also answered his views about his feeling after the two games in charge of Arsenal, He added,“I think we need to keep the players calm and continue working. I know we need to improve things, I know we need to push the players to work with our ideas.”

Emery side needs to improve their performance if they want to achieve their goal of finishing in the top four of the premier league and win some silverware this term.

Arsenal is in the tight spot after losing first two games of the season first time in 26-years but there is still a lot of matches to go but the North London Club has to improve if they want to achieve their goals. Lucas performance in their loss is one of the best and Emery should start him in the coming games to get better of him.

Lucas Torreira is a very talented player and can become better after proper guidance and exposure. Emery should be using him more often as he is a strong player and can provide stability and composure to the team as Xhaka is misfiring for quite some time now and need to be axed for the time being.

‘Pogba no leader and too inconsistent’ : Former United Legend Blasts Skipper

Pogba starred for United in the game against Leicester but struggled to replicate his form on Sunday. The Reds were defeated by Brighton and Paul Scholes has questioned the attitude of United’s record signing. The Frenchman has scored two goals from the spot this year but has seen his leadership qualities doubted by Scholes.

The former English midfielder initially backed Mourinho’s decision to hand the armband to Pogba. Despite returning to training just four days prior to United’s opening fixture, the former Juventus man starred for his side. However, after Sunday’s feeble showing against a newly promoted side, he has been blasted by a former Red Devil.

The French World Cup winner has been singled out by Scholes. When questioned about Pogba’s struggles he said,“There’s a lack of leaders in the team, that’s why we thought Paul Pogba might be the ideal candidate to be that leader but he wasn’t there. He had another really poor game. He’s so inconsistent.”

While Pogba admitted that United did not have the correct attitude for Brighton game, Scholes was further disappointed by the midfielder’s assessment. He added,“I hope that is lost in translation. There is no defence for that comment, there is no defence for it.”

“You say it to yourself, don’t you? You’re constantly saying to yourself: ‘Attitude right, make sure it’s right.’ You don’t need other people to tell you. You don’t need a manager to tell you that or your team-mates.”

After a disappointing transfer window, the Reds are struggling. They are 10th in the table after two games and will play Spurs next week. A display as toothless as yesterday’s will mean doom for them against a resilient Tottenham side.

While it is still early in the season, United’s football style and philosophy look no better than last term. One also needs to understand that after last year their biggest rivals Liverpool and Chelsea have both strengthened their ships. So, a second place finish by any means won’t be of much value for Mourinho. Bigger tests await the Portuguese boss and his team will have a tough road ahead if the trend continues like this.

Messi misses out: Check out the finalists for UEFA Player of the Year

Real Madrid has dominated the European competition for the past few seasons and this year’s UEFA Best Player of the Year Awards is nothing different from that. Midfielder Luka Modric and his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo have made it to the final three of this year’s award. Liverpool’s Mo Salah completes the top three after his exceptional debut season for the Reds.

As declared by UEFA, Modric, Ronaldo, and Salah received the most votes for the award despite some serious competition from rest of the top 10 players. Antoine Griezmann came close with fourth most votes and Leo Messi’s absence was a huge shock with the Argentine being only fifth in the standings.

Modric had an exceptional year both with Real Madrid and Croatia. The midfielder won the UEFA Champions League with Los Blancos where he was an influential figure in the middle of the park. But his performances in Russia were the talk of the town as he led Croatia to first ever World Cup final. Modric also won the Golden Ball at the World Cup for the best player of the competition.

Ronaldo continued to dominate the Champions League for yet another year with 15 goals in the competition. The Portuguese won his record fifth UCL before moving to Juventus. He also scored four goals in Russia including a hat-trick against Spain. The 33-year old has already won the award for a record three times and will look to go two ahead of his arch-rival Leo Messi, come August 30th.

Despite missing out on a title, Mo Salah’s season was nothing less than extraordinary as the Egyptian broke a flurry of records with the Reds. He scored 32 goals in EPL – Most by any player in a 38-game tournament. Salah’s 10 goals in the Champions League were also crucial in Liverpool reaching the final of the competition, only to finish as the runner-ups. The Egyptian Messi, as he is famously called, finished 2017-18 with 44 goals in all competitions.

Surprisingly, the list does not include anyone from France’s World Cup winning squad. The likes of Griezmann, Mbappe, and Varane made it to the top 10 but will miss out on the podium. The winner will be declared on 30th August in Monaco.

While there can be no complaints about the top three players nominated for the award, the absence of a World Cup winner raises a few questions. Just like 2010 and 2014, the focus has looked to have shifted from international football to the club football.

Pep Guardiola responds to the criticism by Man Utd icon

Jose Mourinho mocked City for being able to “buy top players” but not “class” and jokingly claimed that he should receive royalties because of how regularly he features in the Amazon production. He also labelled the series “disrespectful” for the way it casts him as the villain of the piece, but Guardiola insisted that the show was not intended to be critical of his rival.

As noted by BBC Sport, Mourinho insisted that you “cannot buy class” as he reacted to the release of City’s ‘All or Nothing’ documentary which filmed behind-the-scenes footage of their season last year.

City boss Pep Guardiola claims he agrees with Manchester United counterpart Jose Mourinho that the club “cannot buy class”.

Speaking after his side’s 6-1 thrashing of Huddersfield on Sunday , Guardiola said: “That is true, you cannot buy class. I agree with Jose. “We cannot buy class. I think we lived an amazing season with cameras. We did it for ourselves. I don’t agree with Jose in terms of disrespectful. This was not our intention – it was filming last season.”

While Mourinho and Manchester United were struggling to compete with one team only just promoted to the top flight last season, City and Pep Guardiola set about dismantling another.

Whether or not this is the spark that sets off another war of words and bitter rivalry between the former Barcelona and Real Madrid bosses remains to be seen, but evidently, the documentary has raised a talking point and the pair don’t entirely see eye-to-eye on it.

There has always been a rivalry between Guardiola and Mourinho and both have not been too kind to each other since Real-Barca days and that creeps in their words every now and then. At the moment, one is struggling and the other is marching on. As long as they play good football, they don’t care about words.

Official: Liverpool Star Is On His Way To Join This Club

With the addition of Alisson Becker in the squad, Liverpool have finally decided to let go of their goalkeeper Loris Karius on a 2 year loan deal to Beskitas.

The 25-year-old has endured a nightmare few months following on from his costly blunders in the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev at the end of last season. While he would have hoped to put that behind him this year, he committed additional errors in pre-season and that in turn arguably played a key role in Liverpool securing the signing of Alisson from Roma, with the Brazilian now installed as the No.1 choice for the Reds after starting in their opening Premier League game.

Klopp has a great relationship with Karius and wanted the 24-year-old, whom he signed from Mainz for £5million in the summer of 2016, to be a success in the Premier League. But unfortunately for him, it didn’t happen.

It is believed Besiktas are willing to pay Liverpool a €1.4m (£1.25m) payment in each year of the loan, plus a flat fee of €2m (£1.79m) at the end of the loan spell. Besiktas are in need of a new goalkeeper after selling Fabri to Fulham.

Loris Karius set to join Besiktas on a two-year loan with option to buy. Likely to be finalised after tonight’s game #LFC

— James Pearce (@JamesPearceEcho) August 20, 2018

The Liverpool manager had hoped to rehabilitate Karius this season after learning he suffered concussion in the Champions’ League final. But he looked haunted on his return to action in pre-season, and that led to the £66m move for Brazil number one Alisson.

Now, with Alisson and Mignolet still available they seem well equipped in that department moving forward and so allowing Karius to leave will certainly not leave them short.

The exit for the German shot-stopper seems like the most sensible decision for all parties, as especially after Alisson’s arrival, he has dropped down the pecking order and may not get the chance to put right his mistakes from last season.

Revealed: Maurizio Sarri’s New Signing Reveals Why He Joined Chelsea

After three seasons of playing second fiddle to Modric, Kovacic chose to take a new adventure this summer. He joined Chelsea albeit on loan from Madrid on the deadline day. The Croatian midfielder was eager to move to Chelsea because of the prospect of getting to play under Sarri.

Kovacic starred in the thirty-minute cameo in the 3-2 win against Arsenal. He has now revealed that it was the trust and love from new manager Maurizio Sarri that convinced him to switch to England.

Speaking to Sport Klub after his first taste of the London derby, the 24-year-old revealed why he chose the Blues. “First of all it was important that after three years of inconsistency in playing time in Madrid I’ve got into a team that wants me and a coach that wants and trusts me, that’s how Chelsea happened. That’s what I really need now and I want to keep it that way,” said Kovacic.

He further added,“He’s[Sarri] known me for a long time, I’ve watched a lot of his games, he likes to play and that’s what matters in my opinion. The squad is phenomenal with many great players that’s why it wasn’t so hard to adapt quickly.”

When quizzed about his thoughts regarding the Premier League Kovacic explained,“The tempo is higher, there is more space, but as I said it’s not hard to adapt when you are surrounded by great players. I would thank all fans that support me and I will make sure I payback on the pitch.”

After a difficult spell of three years, a loan move at Chelsea will surely help Kovacic resurrect his career. Sarri is one of the most astute tacticians of the game, no wonder why the Croat was so eager to play under him. Also, his comments hinted that he may well be tempted to stay at the Bridge for a longer haul.

Chelsea star reveals that he never considered leaving the club

The 25-year-old who made the £70 million move from Real Madrid to Chelsea, where he has become the Blue’s main striker. After a blistering start to the season with seven goals in his first eight games, Alvaro Morata saw his momentum halted after an injury to his hamstring. However, the record signing struggled even after his return with Antonio Cote benching him for crucial fixtures last season.

That combined with the fact that Chelsea is looking for a Premier League title, means that the Blues were looking to sell the Spaniard at a loss. However, with new manager Maurizio Sarri opting to keep him, amid links to the Serie A and even the Bundesliga, Sarri revealed that the 25-year-old will become a key star in his squad if he continues to perform.

The former Real Madrid man opened his account for the season with a brilliant finish in the North London derby to put Chelsea 2-0 up, with the Blues eventually winning 3-2. Despite that, given that the Spaniard only scored once in the second half of last season, many expected him to move on just one season after arriving.

However, Morata has revealed that he was never interested in leaving the club despite all the transfer rumors surrounding him. In an interview, he went on to say “There was never a thought for me to leave. For me, it’s easy. I could have gone back to Spain or Italy, all the people believe in me there but I want to change all the things here I want to, not for all the haters, but for me and for Chelsea.

Didier Drogba, Chelsea’s greatest ever striker, scored only 10 goals in his first PL season, aged 26.

Alvaro Morata, scored 11 goals in his first PL season, aged 25.

Don’t be quick to judge, and back Alvaro this season💪🏽#CFC pic.twitter.com/tWve67ScSl

— ᴺᴷ7 (@NGoloFC) August 17, 2018

I am looking forward to buying a house and I can’t wait for the babies to grow up to put them into school,” Morata added. “I am very happy and it’s just the beginning of the new season. Why would I not be happy?  I want to change all the thinking from the people who say I’m not. It’s the only reason I stay here, otherwise if Chelsea said, ‘You are not in our plans’, I move.”

This season could be a make or break season for Alvaro Morata, with new manager Maurizio Sarri looking for players that can perform consistently. Chelsea only has Olivier Giroud and the Spaniard as their main strikers, having already sent Michy Batshuayi on loan to Valencia. This could be the 25-year-old’s chance to prove his critics wrong, and maybe live up to his price-tag.

Premier League expert makes a shocking statement after Chelsea beat Arsenal

The Gunners have struggled so far losing their Premier League opener to a dominant Manchester City side lead by Pep Guardiola. But coming to Stamford Bridge, both fans and critics believed that Arsenal had a sliver of hope, with Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri also playing only his second Premier League game for the Blues.

Things just haven’t gone Arsenal’s way so far.

However, by the end of the game, it was Arsenal fans that had their head between their hands as the Gunners ended up on the wrong side of a 3-2 scoreline. An early goal from Pedro put Chelsea in the lead but Arsenal squandered three golden chances, two of which were guaranteed goals on another day and they paid the price. The Gunners did manage to equalize but only after Alvaro Morata opened his account for the season.

However, with the teams going into the half-time break level, Arsenal had a host of opportunities in the second, it was Chelsea who took the lead through Marcos Alonso. The Spaniard was back to his best and played a major part in all three goals for Chelsea. However, former Liverpool and Tottenham star Jaime Redknapp has revealed just how much of a difference there was between the two London rivials.

In an interview with the Mirror, the 45-year-old went on to say “Arsenal may have shown fight to battle back against Chelsea but their 3-2 loss only papers over the cracks. Looking at the Arsenal team, not one of their players would get in Maurizio Sarri’s best XI. At the heart of the defense, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis don’t look a partnership.

At fullback, Cesar Azpilicueta is both more solid defensively and more creative in attack than Hector Bellerin while Marcos Alonso has been impressive since his debut in 2016. Kepa could have done better with Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s first goal but I would rather have a young goalkeeper who is confident playing out from the back than Petr Cech, who is struggling.”

Arsenal clearly has a lot of work that needs to be done to their tactical and positioning sense, but the Gunners have come ways from the Manchester City game where they looked confused and disoriented at times. However, given that the worst is over for now, maybe Unai Emery can bring his team together and aim for their first points under new management.

Liverpool legend heavily criticizes Manchester United after shock defeat to Brighton

A shambolic display in only their second Premier League game of the season, Manchester United had their fans crying at the end of the game conceding two goals in the opening 30 minutes to give Brighton the advantage. But while Romelu Lukaku pulled one back, Pascal Gross’ penalty before the half-time whistle gave the Seagulls a 3-1 lead.

The second half was more or less the same, with Brighton manager Chris Hughton doing his best to contain the likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata. But the wall that consisted of Shane Duffy, Lewis Dunk, Martin Montoya and Gaetan Bong stood still only conceding a penalty with the game already done and dusted.

But while Paul Pogba converted it to make the scoreline look a little more respectable, fans and critics were horrified at the way Mourinho’s back-line fell apart. However, Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness hasn’t held back, even going on to say that this isn’t the Manchester United fans love and adore.

“They’ve been weak, United have been weak. Losing individual battles, (Andreas) Pereira and Fred in midfield, what sort of midfield players are they?  They’re just happy to keep the ball and go square all the time,” revealed the Scottish international. “Prior to Fergie going to Man United, this is the most average group of players I’ve ever seen at United. Really.

They’ve got absolutely nothing about them. They’ve got no presence, there doesn’t look like there are any leaders out there that are pointing fingers when things aren’t going well.  We’ve spoken about United but we’ve also got to give Brighton some credit as well.”

Manchester United did not look like a team challenging for the Premier League title against Brighton and Hove Albion. Jose Mourinho needs to make a few improvements to his tactics and formations, finding the right combination of players before he comments on any other team.
